How to replace cartridges in ES1- 3 stage undersink water filter
This guide will walk you through the process of replacing the cartridges in your Great Water Elite Series 1, 3-stage undersink water filter system
Before you begin, make sure you have the following:
- New replacement cartridges (Sediment Filter, Activated Carbon Filter, Carbon Block Filter)
- A bucket or towel to catch any drips
Step 1: Isolate the Water Supply
- Locate the isolation valve under your sink. This valve controls the water supply to your filter system.
- Turn the valve to the "OFF" position. This will stop water from flowing to the filter.
Step 2: Depressurise the System
-
Turn on the dedicated filter tap on your sink.
-
Allow the remaining water to drain out. This will release any pressure built up in the system and make it easier to remove the old cartridges.
Step 3: Remove the Old Cartridges
-
Working one at a time, grab a cartridge and twist it clockwise, just like you would with a lightbulb.
-
Pull the cartridge down and out of the filter head. Be prepared for a small amount of water to leak out.
- Dispose of the old cartridge in the landfill bin.
Step 4: Install the New Cartridges
-
Take the new cartridges and ensure you are installing them in the correct order. The cartridges are typically numbered or labelled for easy identification.
-
Cartridge 1 (Left): Sediment Filter
-
Cartridge 2 (Middle): Activated Carbon Filter
-
Cartridge 3 (Right): Carbon Block Filter
-
-
Align the top of the new cartridge with the filter head.
-
Push the cartridge up and into the head, then twist it anticlockwise until it is securely in place.
Step 5: Restore Water Supply and Flush the System
-
Once all the new cartridges are installed, turn the isolation valve under your sink back to the "ON" position.
-
Turn on the filter tap and allow the water to run for 15-30 minutes to flush the new cartridges. This removes any carbon fines or air from the system.
-
After 15-30 minutes, turn off the filter tap.
You have now successfully replaced the cartridges in your Great Water Elite Series 1, 3-stage water filter! Enjoy another year of great-tasting, pure water.
