How to Re-pressurise a Reverse Osmosis (RO) Tank
A simple guide to re-pressurising your RO water tank using a bicycle pump.
What you'll need
To re-pressurise your RO tank, all you need is a bicycle pump. These are inexpensive and can be found at local department stores.
Step-by-step instructions:
-
Turn on the tap on your kitchen sink to let the water run. You want to empty the tank completely. The water that comes out is pure drinking water, so you can save it for later use if you wish.
-
Using your bicycle pump, slowly pump the tank to push all the water out through the tap. Continue this until the tank is completely empty.
-
Once the tank is empty, turn the kitchen sink tap off.
-
Continue to pump the tank until the pressure reaches between 7 and 8 psi.
-
Quickly disconnect the pump from the tank.
-
Allow the tank to refill. This process can take up to two hours.
